Delaware Real Money Online Casino Revenue Rises in October

October was the second-best month of 2021 for real money online casino operators in Delaware, as the state recorded $930,093 in revenue.

That figure was up 17.0% from September, when the state took in $794,644 in iGaming revenue.

October’s iGaming handle in Delaware was $25,455,375, down 2.0% from September’s $25,969,647.

Breakdown of Delaware iGaming for October

The Casino at Delaware Park led the state in both handle and revenue for October iGaming. The facility in Wilmington saw more than $10.2 million in handle and made $390,946 in revenue.

The Bally’s Dover Casino Resort was second with $8.45 million in handle and $272,808 in revenue. The state’s third gambling option, Harrington Raceway & Casino, took in $6.77 million in handle and $266,339 in revenue.

Those three real money online casino operators make Delaware one of six states with iGaming options, along with New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Michigan and Connecticut.

Those six states also offer online poker along with Nevada.

Delaware Sports Betting Climbs Dramatically

Sports betting handle in Delaware exceeded $22 million, the state’s best performance in that category for nearly three years.

The exact handle, $22,238,321, was the highest handle in the state since December 2018 ($23.4 million) and the fourth-highest ever in the state.

October’s total sports betting handle derived from $12,231,422 at sportsbooks and $10,006,899 from sports lottery retailers – they offer parlay cards which are only available during football season. The combined figure was up 62.3% from September’s $13.7 million in handle.

Other states smashed their sports betting handle records in October, thanks in part to an increased number of mobile options in various parts of the U.S. market, and partly because October had five NFL Sundays and five college football Saturdays. New jersey set the new national record at more than $1.3 billion in handle and Nevada also exceded $1 billion for the first time.

But Delaware has no mobile sports betting options, instead only taking bets at the Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington retail locations.

Dover Downs Casino Undergoing Rebranding

The newly renamed Bally’s Dover Casino Resort is undergoing a rebranding. The facility had been known as the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

The change in Delaware is just one example of Bally’s rebranding gaming facilities – the company also recently changed the name of the former Tropicana Evansville Casino in Indiana to the Bally’s Evansville Casino & Resort after Bally’s bought the property. Similar efforts have been underway in Rhode Island, Kansas and Colorado.
