BetMGM Launches West Virginia Live Casino as iGaming Expands

West Virginians have another option to feed their appetite for online gaming.

The BetMGM casino launched its live casino offerings in the state on Thursday, with games available on both Android and iOS devices plus desktops.

Now, West Virginia online gaming options include 30 BetMGM games such as slots, Roulette and Blackjack.

BetMGM is partnering with the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs. In July, West Virginia got its first online gaming deal when DraftKings entered the state via an agreement with Hollywood Casino at Charles Town.

"The addition of the leading iGaming offering in West Virginia is a powerful differentiator for BetMGM," company CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a news release. "With the largest slate of casino games in the state, we're confident that our superior offering will quickly become the online gaming destination of choice for players."

BetMGM and The Greenbrier were already partnering on a mobile sportsbook in West Virginia, which launched in early 2020. The new iGaming product will be available as a dedicated tab within the sportsbook app for West Virginia bettors, the news release said.

With this new deal, BetMGM is positioned to make its brand well-known in West Virginia at a relatively early phase as one of only three online sportsbooks in the state and now one of only two online gaming options.

After only two weeks of operation, the state drew $28.5 million in iGaming handle in July and made $553,145.50 in revenue. That number will undoubtedly grow when August numbers are reported and, with BetMGM joining DraftKings for a full month in September, those numbers should spike again when that month’s revenue figures are filed.

MGM Resorts International and GVC Holdings Plc co-own BetMGM, based in New Jersey, as a joint venture.

BetMGM Also Busy in New Jersey

In addition to its foray into West Virginia, BetMGM has also lined up a deal with Evolution Gaming, which will see Evolution provide its live casino product to BetMGM, initially for the New Jersey gaming market.

Evolution also made a deal with casino giant Golden Nugget this year to make live dealer games available. Now Evolution’s live casino studio in New Jersey will be available for BetMGM customers as well.

BetMGM plans to expand into the Pennsylvania online gaming and Michigan mobile betting markets in the near future as well.
