Florida Casino at Hard Rock Hollywood Holds Grand Opening

On Thursday, the newly renovated Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood Hotel & Casino was set to launch after two and a half years of construction.
One of the biggest attractions at the South Florida location, just outside of Fort Lauderdale and about 25 north of downtown Miami, is the new gaming area which covers 30,000 square feet.
Hard Rock spent $1.5 billion on the whole project, including the 450-foot tall guitar shaped hotel (a massive building shaped like back-to-back guitars as symbolized by guitar strings on both sides of the building). It has 638 guest rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows. Outside the windows, a massive light show and screen will take place for people driving and walking around the area to see.
On top of that, a seven-story building called the Oasis Tower houses 168 rooms which gives the full property 1,271 guestrooms on the property.
Another $700 million was spent on the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa & Casino which recently opened its recent expansions on Oct. 3.
Jim Allen, the Hard Rock International Chairman and Seminole Gaming CEO said this in a statement:
“It will put South Florida on the map as a world-class gaming destination, and it will have a huge economic impact on Florida. The gaming industry will never be the same,” Allen said.
Hard Rock Hollywood Casino Details
The new casino area at the Hollywood Hard Rock has a 45-table poker room, close to 200 table games and more than 3,000 slot machines. The general gaming area has penny slots but a high-limit slot area has machines which take bets of up to $1,000.
Among the card games available at the new gaming area: Texas Hold’em, Let It Ride, Pai-Gow Poker, Casino War, Blackjack and more, plus a variety of video poker and roulette games.
Back on July 24, the launch of reservations for the hotel were opened for the Hollywood location and rooms sold out almost immediately for Thursday’s anticipated opening day and the nights that follow.
A two-night stay at the hotel was reported just short of $2,500 for a room in the Guitar Hotel while the seven-story Oasis Tower wasn’t much cheaper at $2,418 for a two-night stay as well.
Super Bowl LIV will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and the Hard Rock website already is showing no real availability at either the Guitar Hotel or Oasis Tower for that time. Other area hotels are all but booked up as well.
The rates will be based on availability and seasonality, according to a recent report from the Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale.
