The Encore Boston Harbor casino in Everett, Massachusetts, saw both an increase and a decrease in revenues for October.

Owned by Wynn Resorts, Encore Boston Harbor’s revenue from slot machines hit a high in October, but the casino’s table game revenue saw a decrease.

The Encore casino revenue for October was revealed from an investor call in November, according to the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge newspaper of Boston.

Table Game Revenue Declines Nearly $10 Million

Encore Boston Harbor celebrated its grand opening June 23, making it the third casino in Massachusetts. Encore’s revenue in July, the gambling hall’s first full month, was $48.5 million.

That number accounted for 60 percent of the $81.4 million combined gross revenue generated in October from the three casinos.

In August, Encore’s table game revenue was at $32.2 million, but the casino saw a decrease of $5 million in September. That revenue dropped another $4 million in October with a total revenue of $23.5 million, nearly a $10 million drop from August.

The majority of the revenue garnered by the Everett casino for their first few months was largely due to table games, with slot machine revenue lower than anticipated. However, Encore Boston Harbor revenue for slots in October tells a different story.

Encore Casino Slot Revenue Increases

The total amount wagered by players in slots for October was $276.48 million, a significant drop from the $359 million wagered in August. However, slot revenues increased. Revenues for slot games at the Everett casino in October were the highest since their grand opening in June with $22.28 million.

The total gaming revenues for the Encore Boston Harbor casino in October was $45.8 million, a $3 million decrease from the prior month. Though slot revenues increased, the decrease in Encore’s table game revenue caused Wynn Resorts to take action.

Table Minimums Reduced, Parking Fees Eliminated

The $2.6 billion Everett casino initially had $50 table game minimums and players had to pay for parking. It was recently announced that the new table minimum is $15 and casino patrons can now park for free.

“The last thing we want to do is be a Vegas casino in Boston. We want to be a Boston casino in Boston,” Encore president Brian Gullbrants said, regarding the recent changes, according to MassLive. “We want to be Greater Boston’s hometown casino. And we want everyone to come and feel welcome like they can have a great time there, whether they are playing or not playing.”

Gullbrant also commented that they got the parking wrong, so they now offer free parking for all guests. Wynn Resorts are hoping that the free parking and recently lowered table limits at the Encore casino will attract more players.
