Delaware iGaming Revenue Rises in July Despite Lower Handle

Ever since Delaware became the first state to legalize online gambling in 2012, it has become the focal point of the iGaming industry, and the numbers reported for July 2019 are very interesting.

Despite players spending less money, online gaming revenue for Delaware is up in July 2019, compared to last year’s July figures, Delaware Lottery reported. This is a significant rebound compared to Delaware’s revenue in June 2019, which sported year-low numbers.

The total amount played in Delaware iGaming for July 2019 was $7,918,402.82 with a total amount won of $7,658,108.11, equaling a total net revenue of $288,675.18 after fees.

Player spending overall was higher in July 2018, but the revenue was lower; Delaware Lottery documents that the total amount played in July 2018 was $17,913,291.23 with a total amount won of $17,689,279.75, equaling a total net revenue of $248,239.78 after fees.

The Big Three in Delaware

There are three legal Delaware online casinos for players to choose from: Harrington Online, Dover Downs Online Gaming, and Delaware Park Online.

Harrington Online had a total amount played of $1,573,700.05 with a total amount won of $1,512,844.27 in July 2019, equaling a total net revenue of $63,737.79 after fees.

In July 2018, the online casino had a total amount played of $1,264,513.47 with a total amount won of $1,208,429.92, making their net revenue $60,657.71 after fees. Harrington’s total amount played increased in July 2019, and their revenue garnered approximately a five percent increase.

In July 2019, Dover Downs Online Gaming was the most popular destination for players; Dover had a total amount played of $3,925,962.32 with a total amount won of $3,824,038.99, making their total net revenue $110,230.43 after fees.

Dover Downs had a total amount played of $1,505,153.19 with a total amount won of $1,444,070.44 in July 2018, making their net revenue $67,628.75 after fees. The online casino saw an increase of the total amount played in 2019, and their net revenue increased by approximately 63 percent.

Delaware Park Generates Highest State Revenue in July

Delaware Park Online saw the highest net revenue across Delaware in July. For July 2019, the online casino had a total amount played of $2,418,740.45 with a total amount won of $2,321,224.85, making their net revenue $114,706.96 after fees.

Compared to July 2018, Delaware Park saw a dramatic drop in amount wagered. In 2018, Delaware Park had a total amount played of $15,143,624.57 with a total amount won of $15,036,779.39, making their total net revenue $119,953.32 after fees.

Delaware Park not only saw a decrease in the amount played, but their total revenue dropped approximately 4 percent, making them the only online casino in the Blue Hen State to see a decrease in revenue in July 2019.
