Owned by Landry’s Inc., GoldenNuggetCasino.com, the online affiliate of the Golden Nugget’s Atlantic City brick-and-mortar facility, is partnered up with many of the online casino industry leaders. These team players include companies such as Betfair and Play SugarHouse.
Licensed and regulated through the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, Golden Nugget’s online counterpart arrived to the online casino scene in New Jersey a bit later than their competition, but they’ve proven to be a popular go-to.
With a compelling homepage and involved with some heavy hitters in the industry, how does GoldenNuggetCasino.com stack up?
It seems to be a fairly normal welcome offer for online casinos, but Golden Nugget is offering a 100 percent match on your initial deposit, up to $1000. However, in order to qualify, your first deposit must be a minimum of $30, which is a bit more than some of their competition, such as Resorts Casino ($10).
There’s no hidden terms and conditions with this, though. It’s straightforward—signup with a deposit of at least $30 and get your deposit match.
As mentioned in the “Pros” section of this review, when we went to the homepage of the casino an immediate “wow” was prompted—it was graphically gorgeous. A lot of times, online casinos are relatively bland, which is fine, but this was a welcome surprise.
With that, though, and all of the different little menus on the page, finding ways to scroll on the homepage and the side menu were a bit difficult to figure out.
But like anything, once you get used to a webpage, it will just become part of the exploration process. Across the top of the screen, you have links to the sportsbook, the different promotions, banking options and a help center.
The load times between screens were a bit longer than some competitors, but again, with so much going on graphically, that extra second or so really isn’t a big deal.
According to their home screen, Golden Nugget has over 600 games to choose from, with about of third of that offered on their mobile platforms. For mobile, there are both iOS and Android apps available. With NetEnt, IGT and NYX among the gameplay software providers, you can expect the gameplay to be smooth, too.
While we have already covered the gameplay operators and the total amount of games being offered (606) on their desktop version, it should be noted that this is one of the highest amounts of games we’ve seen an online casino offer to customers. With that in mind, coupled with the artwork that is littered all over the site, this is a comfortable experience.
A welcome addition that they also include is the number of games, not only in total but for each different type of game. On the desktop version, there are 606 total games, 560 of which are slots, 17 Slingo, 20 Steppers, 16 Blackjacks, 31 Table Games, six Jackpot games, 15 Video Poker, nine Bingo, five Virtual Sports and lastly, 12 Scratchers.
A popular jackpot game that seems to be on numerous online casinos is Divine Fortune. Currently, on the Golden Nugget site, the jackpot for this game is north of $150,000. Some other popular games from the slot’s portion are Golden Grimoire and Astro Cat
With over 600 games being offered, the different ranges of betting limits for each game vastly differ. There are some slots where you can bet as low as $0.10 and up to $10, while there are others where you can bet up to $50. Meanwhile, there are certain blackjack games where you can wager up to $500 or even $1,000.
The lifeblood of an online casino is not only their offerings but their customer service.
There is a live chat button in the lower right portion of the screen and on the side menu to the right, there is a “My Support” button, which lists phone numbers for both the casino and sportsbook, an email and an additional link to their live chat.
It may go unnoticed, but separate phone numbers for the sportsbook and casino seems to indicate there are different departments for these support lines, leading to less wait time for patrons.
It’s fairly standard to have the “Responsible Gaming” green-ish icon on the top of the homepage, but one small thing Golden Nugget adds that should be commended is that they include a message at the bottom of the screen that reads “If you or someone you know has a gambling problem and wants help, call 1-800-GAMBLER.”
Golden Nugget is a highly recommended casino to use both on-the-go and on desktop.
Unless you live in New Jersey and frequent Golden Nugget, the VIP Program is fairly mediocre, though. The returns are nothing to get excited over, with one “Golden Point” equating to $20 for slot games and per $1 cash, needing to wager $2,000.
All in all, the infrastructure, software and graphics associated with the site, in combination with the number of games for players to play makes Golden Nugget a top-tier casino in an extremely competitive market.
